Anguilla Scuba Diving & Watersports
Anguilla scuba diving has an excellent reputation, making it one of the most popular watersports available on the island. Translucent waters, a fantastic barrier reef, sunken ships, and secret coves all surround Anguilla; scuba divers usually frequent these spots on guided tours chartered by one of many excellent facilities located across the island. Most visitors interested in Anguilla scuba start off with a visit to the Dive Shop, a certified dive operator offering scuba instruction, equipment rental, and boat outings. Two Anguilla scuba excursions depart from the northeast each day, costing US$60 for a single tank dive. Further west down the coastline, Anguilla scuba enthusiasts can contact Shoal Bay Scuba and Watersports.
The popularity of Anguilla scuba has prompted the island to create a park devoted specifically to diving off of the northeast coast. The main attraction of the Stoney Bay Marine Park is the El Buen Consejo, a sunken Spanish wreck from 1772, but regular Anguilla scuba diving is great here too. Elsewhere in this hotbed of Anguilla scuba diving, check out the Upper Flats, an underwater haven for stingrays, and the Grouper Bowl, a fascinating assortment of chunky coral and swirling fish.
