Renting a car is the best way of getting around the small island of Anguilla, allowing for the most flexibility and mobility, even if it's just for a day or two of sightseeing. Public transportation, apart from a usually reliable taxi system, is non-existent on Anguilla because it is so small. Renting a car in Anguilla requires a valid driver's license as well as a temporary local Anguilla license, which can be purchased for US$10 from the rental agency. Most of the rental agencies in Anguilla are located near the airport, including Apex/Avis, Budget, and Triple K Car Rental. Look for Connors/National at Blowing Point. Renting a four-wheel drive vehicle on Anguilla is a good idea, as its unpaved roads can be rutted and a little difficult to manage.
